Application and use

HERMAcoat recycling with 100 % post-consumer recycled fibre is a sustainable and versatile label paper for multicolour printing. The natural white, semi-gloss coated surface of HERMAcoat recycling offers good print quality with all conventional printing methods. Thermal transfer printing is also possible, good results are achieved with wax-resin ribbons. Due to the recycled fiber the paper has low tensile strength, which is why the production speed should not be too high.

The ecological advantage of recycled paper is mainly due to the signif icantly reduced water and energy requirements in fibre preparation and the elimination of long transport routes for primary fibres. 

 

The label paper has the "Blue Angel" ecolabel. 

Adhesive 62K is specially developed for deep-freeze application. Tack is very high on critical substrates like PE-films even at very low temperatures. 62K delivers an outstanding tack even on surfaces slightly covered by moisture or ice. At room temperature tack is extremely high on most surfaces. The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all usual machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PH (523) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is one year from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

This paper is approved according to the BfR Recommendation XXXVI. This paper grade may be used safely for food packaging. It may stand in direct contact with dry, non-fatty foodstuffs and such kind of foodstuffs which are peeled, shelled or washed before consumption and may also be used for secondary packaging. All ingredients of adhesive 62K comply with recommendation BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 62K can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 3 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 provided that the ratio of contact surface related to the quantity of foodstuff does not exceed 1 dm²/kg. For the contact with moist foodstuffs, the ratio of contact surface related to the quantity of foodstuff is limited to 0,5 dm²/kg foodstuff. The contact with dry, non-fatty foodstuff is possible without restriction.Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 05.05.2027).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
