Application and use

HERMA LAM is a specially developed label material for marking with a CO2-laser (colour change from white to black).

HERMA LAM with its protective coating is used wherever labels of smudge-proof, solvent and grease resistant paper are required, e.g. for package labelling or for price marking.

Applications on surfaces containing plasticizers are only partially possible, intensive contact with plasticizers, however, might cause fading of the printed image. Please make individual tests for applications on soft PVC films. Recommended for moist and dry applications.

Adhesive 42X is used where good release of the label at high initial adhesion is required. The low final tack of the adhesive provides good release on a variety of surfaces. The combination of resistance to various media, low final tack and high cohesion predestines the 42X pressure sensitive adhesive for resealable labels. Multiple opening and reclosing works very well on all common plastic surfaces.

42X shows good resistance to water, oils and other liquids. Furthermore, the adhesive has a particularly good resistance to light, moisture and ageing.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PH (523) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper grade HERMA LAM (92) according to the sample material submitted is physiologically and toxicologically safe if used according to its intended purpose. It may hence be used safely in printers and scales for the marking of goods. However, it may only stand in direct contact with those foodstuffs which are washed, shelled and/or peeled before consumption according to experience (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 42X can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. (Declaration of no objection valid until 13.02.2026)

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
