Application and use

HERMAsilk offers a supple and soft surface. It can even be heated for a short time to temperatures of about 200 °C. HERMAsilk withstands treatment at 150 °C for a period of 5 hours without any interference of its properties. As a consequence HERMAsilk allows printability not only in conventional printing methods but also in xerographic printing processes.

HERMAsilk can be used wherever flexible substrates are labelled or whenever labels of high decorative value are needed. Examples for applications: Textiles, carpets, mattresses, cables.

Adhesive 63A has been developed for labelling textiles in combination with HERMAsilk. It is characterized by very high final adhesion, but may be removed from most textile surfaces after a short time without leaving residues. 63A is particularly resistant to light, heat and ageing. Typical areas of application for this coated kraft liner are computer labels for laser printers (continuous or sheet stock), which require higher stiffness.

Processing

Good die-cutting characteristics on all usual machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA KW (527) offers good die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary label cutters.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is four years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

All ingredients of adhesive 63A comply with recommendations FDA 21 CFR 175.105 and FDA 21 CFR 175.125 (Adhesives).The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
