Application and use

HERMA PE laser has been specially designed for laser printers. Printing tests showed excellent results both with monochrome and colour laser printing. In order to avoid soiling of printers due to adhesive bleed, we recommend use of protected edges only, i.e. original edges of the semi-finished rolls should not be adopted for sheet-stock. A possible curvature in machine direction (especially towards the cores) may be adjusted by a "decurl bar" in the press. Due to the large number of printers on the market, we recommend carrying out processing tests in advance. In combination with suitable inks the matt surface of HERMA PE laser offers an excellent printing quality in all conventional printing methods. Best results in flexographic printing may be achieved with water or solvent based inks. Label sheets produced from HERMA PE laser are particularly suitable for tracking and logistics labels as well as for product marking (e.g. for labelling pallets, containers or barrels).

Thanks to its extremely high adhesion adhesive 64B is particularly suitable for labelling strongly curved, rough, dusty or oily surfaces as well as rubber products and containers for chemicals. In combination with HERMA PE laser this adhesive is suitable for labelling chemical barrels after filling them at a maximum temperature of 180 °C.In spite of its high coating weight this newly designed adhesive offers excellent die-cutting characteristics. Adhesive 64B is particularly resistant to light, heat and ageing.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

The material complies with BS 5609 Section Two (Resistanceto Sea Water).

Processing

Good die-cutting characteristics on all usual machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (520) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

All ingredients of adhesive 64B comply with recommendation FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 64B can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 5 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating plastic films. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned (Declaration of no objection valid until 14.03.2026).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
